The vision for Southwood is that student progress will be monitored on a regular basis to determine instructional strategies that will help students be successful. Teachers have attended professional development on data analysis and differentiated instruction. Ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade core area teachers give focus quizzes to show student mastery of GLEs. Students strive for 80% mastery of GLEs. Teachers use All-In-Learning to scan focus quizzes and generate data reports. Teachers use data results to implement differentiated instruction and re-teach/re-test when necessary. Each team meets weekly to discuss students who are at risk in academics, discipline, and/or attendance. Tiered interventions are put in place as needed. Ninth and tenth grade core teachers share common content partner planning periods and common Team planning periods.
