Demetria Layton - Counselor for students last names S-Z

Mrs. Demetria Layton graduated from Caddo Parish Magnet High School in 2002.  After graduating from high school, she attended Dillard University.  Due to Hurricane Katrina, Mrs. Layton finished her Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University of Shreveport.  She then went on to purse her teaching certification and Master's of Arts in Counseling and Guidance from Louisiana Tech University.  Mrs. Layton's teaching career began as a classroom teacher in 2010.  In 2013 she began her career as a guidance counselor at Fair Park High School. In 2015, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners.  When Fair Park was shut down in 2017, Mrs. Layton become on of the guidance counselors at Broadmoor Middle Lab.  While a new addition to The Ranch, Mrs. Layton is still committed to serving all students. 

Megan Allen - Counselor for students with last names A-F

After graduating high school from Caddo Parish, Megan Allen went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance at Louisiana Tech University. She started her teaching career in Caddo Parish as a Geometry teacher in 2016 and in 2019 has taken on the role as school counselor. She enjoys getting to help students in all facets as a counselor but especially helping them reach their full potential and prepare for their future.  

Megan enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. 

 

Kathryn Murphy - Counselor for students with last names M-R

 

 

Kathryn Murphy graduated from Southwood High School in 2002. After graduating high school, she went on to study business at Louisiana State University Shreveport. She graduated from LSUS with a Bachelor's in Marketing in 2007. She was driven to pursue her Master's in Counseling by her desire to help people achieve their goals and better understand themselves. She graduated form Louisiana Tech with her Master's in Counseling and Guidance in 2010. She has enjoyed working as a high school counselor for five years and loves helping students succeed at her Alma Mater.

 

Kathryn enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends, reading and traveling.

 

Stenson Baker - Counselor for students with last names G-L

 

Stenson Baker received his Bachelors of Science in Science Education from Louisiana Tech University. He earned his certification in Special Education form Louisiana State University, Shreveport. He aslo earned his masters of Arts in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston. He started his teaching career in Caddo in 1993 and became a Professional School Counselor in 2001. He is the Southwood Student Council advisor and they sponsor the following activities: Homecoming, Blood Drives, Scholarship Pageants, Teacher Appreciation Lunch, Talent Show and community service activities. His philosophy is all students can learn; you just have to find the right key to open their door to success.
